What is SWACDA ABOUT?

SWACDA represents the Southwestern region of the American Choral Directors Association, which holds conventions for choral directors every year alternating between regional and national conventions.

The Fort Worth Chorale was invited to perform at this prestigious event through a highly competitive, blind audition process based solely on musical excellence. Only a small number of choirs from across the Southwestern Region are selected each year.

The Southwestern Region represents seven states: Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. Being selected places the Fort Worth Chorale among the leading ensembles in the region and affirms the choir’s artistry, expressive depth, and musical precision.

At the conference, the Chorale’s performance will be heard by hundreds of choral directors, educators, and musicians from across the region. This invitation brings significant regional recognition not only to the ensemble, but also to the Fort Worth arts community.

The SWACDA Preview Concert offers local audiences a unique opportunity to experience this program before it is presented in Albuquerque. The afternoon will feature music by William Todd, Cecilia McDowall, Hye-Young Cho, and Felix Mendelssohn.

Admission is free and open to the public.
