The beginning of the Schola Cantorum Project (SCP) can be traced to the early 2000s, and to a mentoring relationship between Carol Pyle and Reginal Wright, who was beginning his career as a choral music teacher in Fort Worth ISD. Learn more.

The SCP offers free, newly-composed music to Title 1 designated middle schools through a no-cost membership in its 2023-2024 consortium. How does the Schola Cantorum Project work?

a new song.

Each year we will select a new composer to be featured as part of our consortium. The composition is to be scored specifically for middle school voices. The compositional style and text should be culturally relevant to underrepresented groups. Composers will be compensated for their work and will be free to publish at the conclusion of the one-year membership cycle.
